Puppy Drag Janet and Bonnie had me bring my puppy drag, which is a piece of rope I fasten around my waist. Gunny sacks are attached to the rope and move enticingly as I move around outside, so the pups focus on biting and tugging on them instead of me. I normally wear this as I exercise the puppies’ mother each morning, but for the NN litter, with 15″ of snow on the ground and a bad knee, I hadn’t taken the chance of 9 puppies, tugging vigorously, making me fall and make the knee worse. Thus it was totally new to them and most pups had a great time as the tester drug it around the room, chasing, tugging and at times riding on it.

Bonnie:  Nice drives! Strong potential for working dog. Good focus, nice mix of independence & social

Brown Male
Janet:     Talks a lot – good for nosework, maybe SAR Pet.
Bonnie:  Talker, very willing to try new things. Seemed worried – sat and “talked” to person. Nice mix of independence & people bonding. Pet.

Janet:     Nice pup – good for nose work -probably good for SAR
Bonnie:  Very people-pleasing dog – nice drives, nice for family and for work.

Janet:     Would make a great pet and good for nosework. Very social, nice temperament. Happy. Pet.
Bonnie:  Very people oriented, would be a very nice pet. Good nose work, would train easily.

Pink Female
Janet:     Good pup, could be SAR, nose work dog. Might be harder to train. On retrieve test remarked “too unfocused – too busy.”
Bonnie:  Smart, confident, very toy oriented. Perhaps harder to train – more “self oriented.”

Purple Female
Janet:     Thinker, cautious – would make a good SAR, nose work dog. Easier to train. Very social.
Bonnie:  Very nice – thinker! Methodical, works things through. I think she would be very trainable.

Red Male
Janet:     Didn’t test as he should – I think he’s better than his marks. Confident. Stands & thinks. Tired, not a lot of energy. Distracted? Did not do as well as he should have. Pet.
Bonnie:  Very laid back, pretty unflappable, steady. Not real drivey for a working potential. Pet.

White Male
Janet:     Will make a great search & rescue dog.
Bonnie:  Confident, independent, very nice hunt drive. Would be good working dog!

Yellow Female:
Janet:     Will make a great SAR, nose work dog.
Bonnie:  Nice focus, looks to see what’s next. Attentive to person. I think she would make a nice working SAR/nose work dog. Nice balance of independence & people.
