Ak’is on the Puppy Obstacle Run
13 weeks old
When I competed in agility, I noticed how many dogs were awkward on obstacles because they didn’t know where their back feet were. Ak’is is a prime candidate for this problem because he has quite heavy bone and is growing rapidly. I’ll be adding new obstacles every so often to keep him thinking and paying attention to where all four feet are going.
This morning, a friend brought her five-year-old nephew, Joseph, to help me work Ak’is. This was the 3rd time that Ak’is worked the Obstacle Run. At first, he kept looking back for me, but he soon decided that Joseph was fun to work with. I prefer that the pups run the course slowly and think things out – there’s something new every time – but he and Joseph had other ideas and turned it into a race. Did they ever have fun! Unfortunately, between their speed and my having to move quickly to follow them, a lot of the photos are blurred. But they’re SO cute, that I had to keep them! Those two young ones connected in a beautiful way.
Low light, plus hazy skies from the wildfire smoke coming in from Montana and other places, again made for difficult photography. BUT it also gave a golden glow to the photos that’s very interesting.
